New York Prison Inmates

HOW TO GAIN INFORMATION ON EACH NEW YORK INMATE

  • Visit the New York State Department of Correctional Services. The NYSDOCS is the agency of  New York State and responsible for the care, confinement, and rehabilitation of approximately 63,000 inmates at 71 correctional facilities funded by the State of New York. The NYSDOCS provides an inmate population information search. Yor may search for everyone sentenced to New York state prison (State Prison Inmates) since the early 1970’s, except youthful offenders and those who have had their convictions set aside by a court.
  • Yoy may also have a look at the City of New York Department of Corrections. On the City of New York DOC website you will find the current location of inmates in City of New York DOC custody, along with basic case information (City/County Jail Inmates, not for inmates in police, state, or federal custody). Search criteria are NYSID or Book & Case Number or alternatively at least two of first name, last name or date of birth. The City of New York Dept of Corrections also offers a list of NYC facility locations (Rikers Island Facilities and Borough Facilities).
  • If  you can’t find a New York prisoner using the websites above, you might consider to get in touch with the appropriate government entities to receive the information in person, by mail, or by phone. Therefore you may visit the New York State and Local Government on the Web website for further information.
